Why isn't it completely free?

We run a professional service, using the fastest and most up-to-date services on the Web. We use an incredibly flexible system that allows you to access your website from anywhere in the world and make changes. You don't have to pay us to do it for you (although you can if you want to!)  This costs money to run so, although we've cut the cost back to the bare minimum, we have to pass on the running costs.

Can't I get a free site?

Yes you can, if you look around enough. Sadly there is no such thing as "free" so you either have to put up with advertising on your site (which might not be appropriate) or other limitations.

Can I get a cheaper site?

Maybe, but don't forget you get what you pay for.  But let's just take an example.  If you signup with GoDaddy they are one of the cheapest of all the web site hosting companies.  Their plans start at around £4 a month.  Now you need to register a domain (at an extra annual cost). You need to configure your web space, setup an FTP account, transfer files and documents and setup DNS for you domain. 

As if that's not enough... now you need to create your site.  The tools alone required to create a site like ours would cost in excess of £300.

Cheaper?  You decide.

Do you have your own server?

Most "hosting" companies are in fact just reselling other companies services. We have our own server with fast reliable access to the Internet. It is housed in one of the most up to date data centres in Europe. With any service you need to look very carefully at the "load" put on the server by the total number of sites hosted. We have put a limit of 200 sites on this server but some organisations will serve 1500+ sites. The problem is that any of those sites could bring down the server if it's not well managed.

Can I set up my own forms?

Yes, you get full access to our Content Management System, which means you can create any number of forms for your site. You can have a simple contact form or a more complex page letting your visitors fill in lots of information.

Do you do emails addresses?

No we don't, partly because we're committed to reducing SPAM.  From the website people can email you to any email address you specify (or multiple addresses)  This means you're not stuck with one email address.  We strongly recommend GoogleMail for a comprehensive and free service.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes you can. There is a small additional charge but we can also handle all the administration for your name.

What is included in the basic site?

To get you started we've included some basic pages.  Have a look here for a starter site at MyWight.Net. From there it's up to you.  You can add unlimited photos in Galleries, you can create custom forms, you can add Paypal buttons to enable you to do online sales.  As many pages as you want and using any of the 400+ templates to change the look of your site.

Supposing I want to copy a specific site?

First off, you have to understand that all web site are copyright and you'd be very unwise to do a straight copy.  If you wanted to go for a similar "look and feel" we could design a specific template for you, at an additional cost.

How do I get help?

There are a few options. We're currently working hard on a series of self-help videos that you can see on YouTube.  You can also email us with any question and we'll do our best to answer it.  If there is enough demand we'll set up a "users forum" so you can help each other too.
